Crank by Ellen Hopkins

To be honest, I didn't really like this book when I first started reading it. For starters, I'm not really a big fan of poetry. But as it moved along, I got used to the way it was written and I really started to love it. A girl, about my age, going to visit her deadbeat dad who she loved unconditionally. A boy, who made her summer beginning. There was a lot of drug use, and I mean a lot. But hey, what would you expect from a book titled "Crank?" There had to be some meth in it, and I was ready for it.

What I wasn't expecting, was how spot on the characters were. None acted out of place. They all acted their own age, and though some of the characters were shocking, it all fit together. I didn't know that this book was a 'true story' until I re-read the first page. What the hell! It's awesome. I know that drug addicts have a hard time, but I didn't know that it could happen like this. Who knew?! Anyways. If you haven't read this book yet, I recommend it for sure. I'm in love with it, and I'm so glad that the second one came along with it. I can't wait to read it! (:

Infected by Scott Sigler

Holy eff. This book was awesome. I know I couldn't really get into it at the start, but I knew it was going to be good. I was expecting young adult before I really looked into it, (mostly because someone shelved it as so in Value Village) but sometimes you need a break from ya, you know?  This was an awesome break. I thought it would be zombies, but it was more parasitic zombies than anything. The author compared the virus/parasite to the virus Leucochloridium paradoxum. It takes over the host's brain and urges it to commit suicide, and then travels from species to species. It was awesome to see that in a book.
I could tell that this book was more written for men, than anything. Especially when there was a parasite in his .. junk area. bahah. I had to ask my dad who mostly read horror, because I couldn't really relate to the part where he cut off his own wiener with chicken scissors. Lol. But whatever. It was kind of graphic. Aside from that part, which might I say was written for shock factor, it was an awesome book. I definitely recommend it, no matter what other review may claim. It's exciting. Just read it already! :P

Spirits That Walk in Shadow by Nina Kiriki Hoffman

What an awesome book. And I knew it was going to be awesome from the moment I saw it. I mean, punk hair and ear piercings? Also. A cool looking lizard that I really want? How could it be horrible? And was I ever right. It was full of magic, and I learned things I didn't know could happen. Like when the 'feelings vamp' split itself into two separate people? that was awesome. I wish I could do that. I mean, changing into something totally different would be awesome too, but I dunno. Feelings children are pretty cool.
Kim was a pretty relatable character for me, depressed, couldn't find something to get into, or she couldn't get back into something. Dumb people in high school pushed her to the edge. It's something that happens to everybody. I also like how she acted her age. So many books I've read have people in them who are either acting way too young, or insanely too old. I can't even explain how many times that's made me hate a book. It's just so dumb. lol.
All in all, I loved this book. It had just the right amount of magic and paranormal things in it to make it fiction. Hey, if it didn't have those, I probably would've thought it could be true. If you haven't read this book, I highly recommend it! (:

Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

This was a good book. And if my kobo would've loaded the pages a little faster, I would've finished it a lot sooner. what can I say. I like werewolves. And this book was about werewolves, so it just made it more interesting. It was full of action, and although the insta-love pissed me off a little, this book sucked me in until the very end.
I still don't really get the whole ' I was raised by wolves so now I've got super powers that none of them have. ' thing, she wasn't even really raised by wolves. She was raised by a human, and the wolves kind of sort of taught her how to fight other wolves. that doesn't mean she should be able to have weird mind powers, it means she should be able to fight. Oh, and also? She needs to be a little older. Apperently she was 14 at the beginning of this book and she walked and talked and acted like someone who was 18 or 19. Which can't be. WHY ARE PEOPLE MAKING THEIR CHARACTERS SO YOUNG NOW. It's weird. I might only be 16 now, but trust me. I didn't act like that when I was 14.
Those were really the only bad things. I liked the rest of the book. I thought she would go to school more, but she didn't. I guess 14 year olds don't have to go to school if they don't want to anymore? lol. whatever. But that's basically why it's only four stars. Which trust me, is still pretty damn good.

The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead

First of all, I'd like to say that I understand where Sydney is coming from. If I were her, I'd be a little scared around vampires too. I mean, sure, I'd get used to them, but I'd still be scared. I mean, come on. They're blood sucking, magic using, immortal if they're bad, people that look like people. You get what I mean? That being said, I still probably would have gone after Adrian if I were her. He's awesome. And he wants to hang out all the time. Also? He stands up for people and things. Who wouldn't love that?
This book was action packed, and pretty awesome. I wasn't quite sure on who this Brayden kid was, but I'd never date him if I were Sydney. I mean, sure, he likes all the same stuff and does all the same stuff as her, but as soon as i figured out that that was all he was going to talk about all the time, I would definitely have broken it off. I'm not really sure why Sydney cried after, but I guess it was for the better. Now. In the next book I'm hoping her and Adrian get together. How cute would that be? (:
I like how there was another 'section', lets call it, of the Alchimists, but there's always a churchey side of something or another, right? Though, I'm still not really clear on what Trey had to do with it, aside from being in it. He seemed like he didn't really want to be in there with them. I wish that Sydney would be a little more into the whole magic thing with the teacher, but I guess she's like, offended or something by it. Oh well. I'm sure that awesome thing will grow on her. :D
I think that's all I'm going to write. It's an awesome book, by an awesome writer, who writes awesome series'. Is that even a word? Probably. Whatever. It was awesome, anyways. If I hadn't said it enough. :P You should definitely read it if you read the Vampire Academy  books, and even if you haven't you should read it. (:

Messenger by Lois Lowry

To be honest, I'm still not really sure how the books in this series are connected. I mean, I know that the second book and the third book have a couple of the same characters in them, but how is the first book related to any of this? What happened to Jonas and Caleb-if I remember correctly? I mean sure, they're all dystopian books with basically the same idea. but really, how do they even match up? It's weird. Maybe someone could explain it to me?
That being said, I still enjoy this series. It's short, and straight to the point. Sometimes I wish it would be a little longer, but that's fine. Sometimes you need a short book in between long books just for a break. I didn't realize it at first, but Matty was the child from 'Gathering Blue'. I don't really remember more than bits and pierced , but once Kira came into the story with her twisted leg and sewing powers, I started to remember.
Overall, I liked this book. It was interesting, and the forest adventure was pretty cool. I'm not totally sure what happened at the end there, but there's still one book to read, so I'm sure I'll find out. (:

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

I have to admit, this book really did make me cry. Which is saying something, because I really don't cry for books, or even movies. So this means that this book really got to me. As soon as Adam came into the room all puffy-eyed, I knew I was going to cry. I don't know why exactly, but a guy crying gets to me a lot more than a girl crying. Maybe because I'm a girl, that desensitizes me from crying along with them? :P

There was really only one part in this book I didn't really like, and that was the whole 'play me like a cello' part and that's because it was just insanely weird for me. I know that it was like the only remotely sexual thing for Adam and Mia, but it was still weird. Like, imagine walking in like that? How would you explain that?! ha ha. It could have been less creepy.

Other than that, there wasn't really anything else I didn't like. It was a cute book, full of some good, some bad flashbacks  and I really want to read the next one. Did I mention I couldn't put it down? Well I couldn't. It was insane. I pretty much read that whole book in one sitting. Which is awesome. If you haven't read this book, I definitely think you should. (:

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

although this book was a little hard to get into at first i really enjoyed it. narrated by death, this book takes place in Nazi Germany. it reminds me of Anne frank, the way they hide a Jew in the basement. one of the main characters was a young girl who lost her family at the beginning of the book. her brother died on the train, and her mother dropped her off at a house and she never returned. in the beginning she missed her mo, but she quickly discarded that and replaced her old family with her new foster family. 

that ending, i swear it almost made me cry. i mean, i knew it had to happen, they were in the middle of WW11, but i really didn't want it to happen. i was surprised when the bombing wasn't the ending, but happy to know that there was a sweet ending for that awful thing that happened.

i don't know what else to write without spoiling it! if what you read before wasn't too much of a spoiler, i mean. i wish i could be a book thief, under different circumstances though, of course. i don't think i could handle being in WW11. i loved the twist with death in it, I've never really read anything like it before, and it was awesome. if you haven't read this book yet, i definitely recommend it! (:

The City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare : Review

          What do I think about this series? Although it's action filled and exciting, I wish there could just be a conclusion already. A couple books back it should have ended. I mean, wasn't it only supposed to be a trilogy anyways? You can tell that she's extending it to create one of those never-ending series for the fans, and that's not a good thing. It's dragging on, and I'm hoping that I'm not the only one in the whole young-adult universe that thinks so. 

          What do I think about this book alone, however? I thought that it was exciting. Just like the rest of the series, and even the series itself, it was packed with action, splashed with romance, and touched with family feud  I might want the series to end, but I do still like the books. The characters are starting to get a little bland and shallow, but I still do like the books. I'm starting to think, though, that Clare is running out of idea's. I don't understand why the bad guys can't just die at the end and it could all be finished. With a happy ending, even. Might not be the best choice, but at least it could be finished. 

          Honestly, I'm starting to think that these books are all the same. Dating drama, family feud, war breaks out, dating drama is over, all crisis averted. The family goes back to almost normal. How much easier could it be? And that's why I'm bored. They really are all the same, and I'm actually beginning to dread the next books. Lets hope it's the last, and also hope that I'm not the only one who feels this way. 

          No matter how tired I am of the series, though I still liked the book. And because of that, (and also my weird obsession to finish books and series' no matter what,) I'm going to read the next one. And if there's another one after that, I'm probably going to read that one too. I would recommend that you do that too, just to see what happens in the end. (:
